Sander you think of everything... predator guard for the bird house, templates for everything, and veranda rails perfect height for leaning on, seeing the view and resting your drinks on . You,re amazing. A Sander hbuilt house would be everyones master achitects dream.
Love how you two tag team and flow. You can tell you two are comfortable in your strengths and coming together to give eachother respect and honor. I must say I miss Joey. I hope he is well😊. Btw, I’d live there for the next 30 years…I’ll be 90 and grateful for such a peaceful existence ❤
I'm so in love with the meadow house. You've put so much thought into every detail and executed all your meticulous plans with so much expertise and love! It's come such a long way and has grown into a true masterpiece. ART! Utility and beauty intertwined. I have a crush on your meadow house, is what I mean to say.
This is one of the first renovations we have accomplished here and the feeling one gets from being able to see and experience the before and after is so tasty. Think we're hooked!
It looks very inviting and has that log cabin feel now! The birdhouse is a wonderful accent piece. I’m working on a boring tiny home 🏡 that needs a driveway switch from front to back entrance. Challenging, but this video actually helps. Thank you!
Very thoughtful. All the little details that wouldn't be thought of...envisioning potential problems with water, circulation, bugs and wildlife getting into the home, etc. The cottage is very charming and inviting! I love the dark green color with the warm staining. Sander is amazing with his workmanship. The previews of the awning and rain chains add so much character. I can't wait to see the gardens in progress in the spring and summer Thank you Sander and Summer! :)
Greetings from Kazakhstan! You guys have done a marvelous job on this building 👍 AND, this is one of the most elegant videos I've seen on youtube about renovations. Keep up an awesome job. You have CLASS 🥀
Another interesting meadow house vlog. So many thoughtful considerations went into all of the design and build decisions. There are no real shortcuts to a beautiful as well as functional result, something we all need to keep in mind as we pursue our own projects.
It shouldn't get too hot. It has air gaps above and in front on the sides. And the gable is 'empty' and uninsulated. Eager to see whether a bird will be v convinced to move in! Let's keep fingers crossed and wait until spring
When painting wood you have to use a special primer that blocks the sap from coming up. You have to do a couple of coats and then you paint with the colored paint.
The paint/sap issue just ads a little rustic patina to the perfection, it's not a bad thing. I couldn't see, but is there any planting to shield from the road?
we have some small trees starting close to the road. Ideally we actually take up the entire lawn and turn it all into a garden, which may be a project for either 2024 or 2025. We have to be careful not to plant trees too close to the home, however, because there was a pre-existing septic system, which we wouldn't want any tree roots finding.
When is the best time of year to do that? I don't want to disrupt a mother if she has eggs in there. I'm new to birdhouses and we put up two this year.
Wonderful job on the house! I learned a lot and it also inspired all kinds of ideas for a house I have in mind. I love your detail-oriented and thorough workmanship, Sander! You two make such a complimentary pair! Quick question: On the eastern porch where the trellises are, to the right of them is a plant pot planted with what looks like a type of grass. I don't know if it was just the lighting that the camera caused, but the grass looked a little copper-colored. Can you tell me what the name of that plant is? Thank you -- for all of it! I sat through the whole video without realizing it was over 40 minutes; I was rapt!
Hey love your ideas … fancy staying here Saunder @The wildman woods … shame your not Wales 😬😬😉😉😂😂you both put so much into your projects … I’ve rewilded a hill farm and we have a lake we built… so interesting seeing yours … ovs very different plants but still lots of similarities ❤❤ EDIT…ILOVE THOSE WHITE METAL CHAIRS ON THE PATIO…. Antique ? Or new…is there a name for them ? They are the nicest garden chairs I’ve seen …I’m looking on google but nothing comes up like them … 🤔🤔🤔?.? Xx
Isn’t Sander wonderful? I used to spell his name with a “u” too. I saw it spelled without. 😉I feel we could all use a bit better f these two in our home design, they did such a wonderful job! I’d be curious to hear about his training, if any. Have a wonderful day! 🌸
Somehow this video wasn't shown to me until now.. Normally I see your videos the day they come out. Better late than never :) The Algorithm can do weird stuff
We would have typically done fiberglass, which is best in class, as we were really focused on having to use less energy in the house, but we did a fiberglass-vinyl blend to keep within budget for this project. Renovation is always a compromise and most always a budgetary balance, as anyone who does it, knows.
I agree. Renos are about compromise. I just wouldn't have compromised in this area. To each his/her own. I still think what you've done with the Meadow House is gorgeous. @@FlockFingerLakes
I really do appreciate Sanders expertise! He is such an amazing resource! What a gift.
The Meadow house is an absolute masterpiece on so many levels. Sander is a construction/design/ troubleshooting genius! 👍🏻

Ah thank you so much. Highest compliment.
Wow I mean it is one thing to see a vision but then making it happen is amazing.

It’s all about finding the right shade of color and adding texture. Very cozy, blends in with the meadow. ❤
Saunder is an artist.. just like you- pretty evenly matched
Thanks in kind.
Board and batten siding looks great!
Yes, we did a reverse board and batten, which we got the idea from our friends at Under the Tree Farms.
Sandor is such an amazing pre-thinker. The way he approaches a task is outstanding. I am too impatient when doing a project.
I enjoyed hearing you both explain the thought process behind the design. I really love this little house!
Sander onscreen! Love both of your perspectives. Do a giant bughouse on the chimney, I dare you. Unprecedented. : )

We are also in need of driveway repair. Maybe a year or two from now. We feel you: it's going to be a big job.
I always enjoy your posts. But Sander just amazes!!! Great job you guys!!!!

Why thank you so much. I don't know if anyone has ever called our videos, "elegant", but we really appreciate it.
I’m learning a lot. Thank you for sharing
That's wonderful. We're glad our videos can provide some educational fodder.

Use an oil based prime to prevent the knot bleeds.
Love these green and orange exterior stains. Could you tell manufacture and colors? Thank you
Just beautiful. Just feeds my desire to renovate my house. lol.
Enjoyed the video and found the tips very useful.
Will it get too hot in the birdhouse? It may be useful to put a little thermometer in there? Cute idea!

Such a thoughtful remodel. You could try a primmer sealer on the spots before you paint them.
Love it! You guys are doing an amazing job! Thanks for the inspiration! Love all your videos!
Cheers from Florida 🍻
Beautiful Guys !! great job!proud of you too, Cheers

If people put a bird house in at home, do remember that they need cleaning out annually
When is the best time of year to do that? I don't want to disrupt a mother if she has eggs in there. I'm new to birdhouses and we put up two this year.
Very important point. Thanks for bringing it up. Prevents any disease or mite transfer, for example.
Birds don't nest in fall or winter, so you can clean it out anytime in fall, winter, or really early spring before the birds arrive.
@@FlockFingerLakes Thank you so much!!

Could you link the source for that Beautiful awning? Thank You!

It's a native Panicum virgatum 'Shenadoah Red' cultivar

Extremly beautiful ,i have to ask are S&S acouple from oz always watching cheers Maxine .❤
Can you provide details about the trellis mount hardware?
Yep, here you go: amzn.to/3RNmXro

they are a vintage set. And yes, fell in love with them when I saw them.
A bit of Sander's training here in the 'Meet the Flock' video: ruclips.net/video/g-8T5lH0ruU/видео.htmlsi=joXtz4WnG_KK6l8x&t=743

Love everything you've done. The vinyl replacement windows, however? Nope. Just doesn't work with the feel of the exterior.

Maybe a good idea... but full of bird poop on the head and in the central part of the porch. Apart from that, I really like the house. Good job!
Let's see what we're in store for come spring! Provided a bird chooses this home. :)
Can someone tell me what kind of siding is on the exterior? Is it vertical wooden shiplap?
We used planed hemlock boards, which is what is traditionally used around here for barns.
Go metal roof. Tile roofs have nothing but leak issues according to my roofer.
Once upon a time, it was boring... 😅
Boring
That sidewalk at 12:00 is very likely going to crack. Should've put in some cold joints.
